Launched in late 1996 the 986 was the first generation Porsche Boxster, introducing the mid-engine 2 seater roadster that would take the world by storm and instantly become the class leader which would set the bench mark for others to aspire to. The original base model 2.5 litre engine was replaced in 2000 with the 2.7 litre flat six, as is fitted to this model.
