Launched in 1997 the 996 is the first of the water cooled 911s, and in 2000 the 911 Turbo was launched as the flagship variant of the range. Powered by the 3.6 litre twin turbo mezger engine producing 420 bhp and with recorded performance figures of 0-62 mph in just 4.2 seconds with a top speed of 190 mph.
